When will Aston Towers be handed over?

There is no handover date. Aston Towers carries a registered completion date of 1 April 2020 (fäm Properties; DXBinteract shows April 2020), and that date passed more than six years ago. The DLD register figure shown by DXBinteract and Dubricks puts construction at 32.82%, with no inspection date published alongside it.

The project is better known by its marketing name, Aston Plaza & Residences. The Times reported in April 2019, as summarised by CoinDesk, that government inspectors visited the site in January 2018 and declared the project on hold, and that work had not resumed by then. None of the sources dated after 2019 gives a new completion date. Aston Tower A and Aston Tower B are the two towers of this one project, and no source publishes separate progress figures or dates for each tower.

Aston Towers construction update

The registered start date is 8 November 2008 (fäm Properties). In January 2018 the developer’s bitcoin sales website described the scheme as 25% constructed. The DLD register figure now shown is 32.82%. Korter lists sales from the developer as suspended (accessed 6 October 2026), and DXBinteract records no sales transactions in the past 12 months.

The plan was for two towers on a 2.4 million sq ft development, served by a three floor podium with a shopping mall and four basement parking levels. Korter gives the floor count as four basements, ground, three parking levels, 32 floors and a roof. Fortune described two residential towers in 2017, while Skyloov describes Aston Tower 2 as a 33 floor hotel tower, so sources disagree on the second tower’s use.

Aston Towers homes and sizes

Home type Size Listed from
Studio 493 to 575 sq ft AED 390,000
1 bedroom 757 to 821 sq ft AED 864,095
2 bedroom 1,306 sq ft Not listed

Sizes and prices are as listed by fäm Properties (accessed 6 October 2026). Korter gives a wider range of 516 to 2,202 sq ft. Unit totals also differ: 1,108 (Korter), 1,133 (Fortune, September 2017) and about 1,300 (CCN, February 2018).

Aston Towers prices and resale

At the 2017 relaunch the total project value was put at GBP 250 million (about USD 325 million), and Fortune reported 480 units already sold in ordinary currency. In early 2018 a first phase of 150 apartments was offered in bitcoin, and CCN reported on 12 February 2018 that 50 had sold, with studios at about USD 133,000. DXBinteract shows no registered sales in the last 12 months (accessed 6 October 2026), so there is no current resale price.

Aston Towers developer and delivery record

The developer is Aston Developments, which its sales website describes as part of the Knox Group, the Isle of Man company chaired by Doug Barrowman. Baroness Michelle Mone was a partner in the 2017 relaunch. The sales website gives the RERA project number as 152 and states that buyer money was paid into an escrow account. The same website says Aston Developments grew out of the group’s UK real estate business, Aston Property Ventures.

What to check before buying at Aston Towers

  1. The DLD status of project number 152, through the Dubai REST app’s project status service, since the 32.82% figure carries no published inspection date.
  2. Which tower the Oqood names. Tower A and Tower B have no separate public figures, so the registration document is the only record of which tower a unit is in.
  3. Whether a listing is really in this project. Portals such as Zeus Capital and FazWaz use “Aston Towers” as a location label for completed buildings nearby, including Opalz by Danube and Bella Rose.
