What the Aston Towers handover date means for payments

The developer’s sales website says buyer payments went into a RERA escrow account for project 152, from which money can only be released for construction costs approved by the bank and RERA. In the bitcoin phase it offered an extra 5% discount to buyers paying 100% of the price upfront, so some buyers paid in full years before any handover. No payment plan with a handover instalment has been published for the project.

What to check before relying on the Aston Towers date

  1. The current DLD status of project 152, through DLD’s project status enquiry service, which shows whether the project is active, on hold or under cancellation.
  2. The tower named in the Oqood. With no public split between Tower A and Tower B, the registration document is the record of which building a unit belongs to.
  3. Whether a bitcoin purchase was registered. Units sold through BitPay in 2018 are covered by DLD records only if the sale was registered in the buyer’s name.
  4. The building behind any “Aston Towers” listing. Some portals use the name as a location label for nearby completed buildings such as Opalz by Danube and Bella Rose.
